Now personally, I am a big fan of chocolate cupcakes as are my siblings. I have made these choc cupcakes many times that I know this chocolate cupcakes recipe by memory now. I know there are so many chocolate cupcakes recipes out there, but these chocolate fairy cakes will have you look no further. Trust me when I say this is a very moist chocolate cupcake recipe out there.

The batter of this easy chocolate cupcakes recipe is quite runny so don’t start panicking if you think it’s too watery. This batter makes enough for 12 easy chocolate cupcakes. Usually my recipes are for 12 cupcakes because I usually only make one batch, so they finish in one go. I’m not one for keeping leftovers to be honest. 

I topped this with some chocolate buttercream frosting a few times and sometimes with chocolate fudge frosting. One time I even used whipped cream frosting, but I think I prefer the chocolate frosting because, you know, chocolate is delicious. Now I learnt a tip from someone when it comes to chocolate desserts and that is, I always add a dash of cinnamon. Now this really helps to bring out the chocolate flavour. Don’t add too much because you do not want to be able to taste the cinnamon. I think coffee does the same thing, but I absolutely hate coffee. I don’t know how people manage to drink it let alone get addicted to it. The reason I haven’t added the cinnamon to the actual recipe because you can make it without the cinnamon and it still tastes delicious.

Chocolate Cupcakes

This moist chocolate cupcake recipe has so much chocolate packed into a single cupcake making it perfect for chocolate lovers everywhere. This easy chocolate cupcakes recipe uses simple pantry ingredients and will become your go-to recipe for the best chocolate cupcakes you have made. Frost with your preferred icing to or even eat it plain. How ever you choose to eat these homemade chocolate cupcakes, you will be amazed.


  • 100g Plain Flour
  • 200g Sugar
  • 50g Cocoa Powder
  • 1 tsp Baking Soda
  • ½ tsp Baking powder
  • 2 Eggs
  • 100ml Milk
  • 100ml Boiling Water
  • 50ml Vegetable Oil


  1. In a bowl, combine the plain flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda and baking powder
  2. In another bowl, use a whisk to mix the eggs, milk, warm water and vegetable oil
  3. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients then mix until completely combined
  4. Line a cupcake tin with cupcake cases
  5. Pour the mixture evenly into the cupcake cases so that the batter fills the cupcakes 3/4 of the way
  6. Bake in the centre of a preheated oven at gas mark 4 for 20-25 minutes
